He had chaired a number of committees and sections of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He served as a senior fellow of the Center for Public Resources, New York City, and served as a task force leader on alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, a division of the Special Commission of the Administration of Justice in Cook County. He was a member of the board of trustees of Loyola University for eight years, and he served as president of Loyola's Alumni Association, Law Alumni Associaton, St. Viator High School's board of trustees and the Union League Club of Chicago. Comments: Dear All in the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary,
i would ask - beg, prostate myself before you ... that you pray with all your hearts for an extremely dear friend who has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Don't know all the details but it is never good and hard to find someone more deserving of being cured. Has started and chaired numerous charitable organizations - is extremely generous with his time and money. Like Teresa of Avila, i am begging the good Lord not to take one of the good ones.
Thank you all and best wishes for a happy and holy Christmas.

Ann savored spending time reading the classics, enjoying the profusion of plants in her yard, cooking gourmet meals, conversing with her own children, nieces and nephews. Travel, The Chicago Symphony, The Lyric Opera, The Art Institute and poetry were loves she shared with her husband Don. She was proud to be called Grandma by her grandchildren, James and Gillian, whom she adored and the admiration was mutual. Comments: As we work, hope and pray for the more complete inclusion of women in partnership positions with men on this Earth, in order to achieve more balance in individuals, places and groups, help us to "be the change that we want to bring about." In particular, let those of us who have been fortunate to receive education in the schools and serving places of the Religious of the Society of the Sacred Heart be mindful of the admonition of the Founder to commit ourselves to grow "Deeper in Wisdom and Wider in Charity."
Also, let us be mindful, without self-pity or rancour, that millenia of oppression and warfare have left deep marks on the souls of all women and men as we have internalized the opinions and edicts of oppressors. Help us find the strength we need to move away from any acts which illustrate the research in the book by Dr. Phyllis Chesler, WOMAN'S INHUMANITY TO WOMAN. Especially, let us show our gratitude for the training and resources we have received by "tending and befriending" our sisters, lay and religious, in Sacred Heart schools, alumnae/i associations, convents or in any locations.
